After being raised in the Midwest and completing my pediatric training at the University of Kentucky in Lexington my wife and I moved to Mobile. For the first three years, I worked at the Mobile Country Health Department as a means of paying back a National Health Service Scholarship for medical school. Those of you that are into old TV shows may remember Northern Exposure. You can think of me as having “Southern Exposured.” During the payback period I worked part-time with Pediatric Associates of Mobile and once my obligation was fulfilled, I shifted over to full-time practice with the group.
My wife, Joan, is a nursing instructor at Spring Hill College. Our daughter, Claire, is a pediatric gastroenterologist in Birmingham where she lives with her husband and two sons. In our free-time we enjoy sneaking up to Birmingham to spend time with them.
Throughout the years I have been honored to serve as president of the Mobile Archdiocesan Board of Catholic Education, president of the board of Mobile Ballet, Inc., chairperson of the Alabama Baby Coalition, and president of the medical staff at Springhill Medical Center. In addition to those positions, I served on the Board of Censors for the Medical Society of Mobile County. Above all of those I am honored that parents of the Gulf Coast have entrusted the care of their children with me.
